WHAT DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS CONSIST OF?

WHEN IS THE CLOSING DATE FOR SCHEME APPLICATIONS?

We run multiple Early Careers schemes which open and close for applications at different times in the year, please check our current vacancies page for current roles and specific closing dates. Typically we open for applications in the late autumn through to the following spring for schemes to start in September.

I’VE ALREADY GRADUATED, CAN I APPLY FOR THE JCB GRADUATE SCHEME?

Yes, if you have graduated within the last 3 years and meet the entry requirements outlined on the advert, you are eligible to apply.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO HEAR THE STATUS OF MY APPLICATION?

You will receive an email thanking you for your application shortly after you submit the form. We endeavour to respond to each application within two weeks; however, as we receive hundreds of applications it can sometimes take longer than this. We will contact you as soon as we can.

WHEN DO THE ASSESSMENT CENTRES TAKE PLACE?

We run multiple Early Careers schemes and therefore assess throughout the year, however typically we run assessment centres in December through to June for schemes to start in the following September.

DO I HAVE TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK?

If you are invited to an assessment centre, we will ask you to bring proof of your eligibility to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor visas for our Early Careers programmes.

I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN MY APPLICATION, CAN I REQUEST FEEDBACK?

We understand it is important to have feedback to assist in your future applications. You can request the feedback and we will provide the information as soon as possible.

IF I AM SUCCESSFUL WHEN WILL I START MY EARLY CAREERS SCHEME?

Our Early Careers schemes typically start at the beginning of September each year. Specific start dates will be discussed at Assessment Centre.

WHAT TYPE OF CONTRACT WILL I BE OFFERED?

Our Early Careers contracts are permanent positions.

HOW IS MY PROGRESS MONITORED?

At the start of each Early Careers placement you agree your objectives with your Placement Manager. At the end of the placement we hold a review with your Placement Manager and the Scheme Leader. During the review we discuss your performance against the objectives and how you feel you have developed. We also discuss improvement areas to focus on in your future placements.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I COMPLETE MY EARLY CAREERS SCHEME?

You are a permanent employee from day one and upon completion of the scheme, you transition into a suitable role within the business and retain your length of service.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IF I REQUIRE REASONABLE WORKPLACE ADJUSTMENTS TO BE MADE TO SUPPORT MY APPLICATION?

Please contact a member of our Recruitment team at any stage of the process so that we can make the necessary reasonable workplace adjustments

WILL I BE THE ONLY APPRENTICE IN MY YEAR GROUP?

No we have a large community of Early Careers across lots of different schemes.

AM I ABLE TO HAVE ANOTHER JOB ALONGSIDE MY APPRENTICESHIP?

No we do not support this and this is clearly outlined in the contract.

WILL I GAIN SUPPORT WITH MY MENTAL HEALTH?

Yes we have an Employee Assistance Programme which is available to all employees and their families, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

WILL I GAIN SUPPORT WITH RELOCATION?

We can offer support with the ideal locations to live, and also putting you in contact with other apprentices who may be relocating that year so you can share costs and make some new friends who will also be joining.

Can I receive support with transport?

No, you are expected to be able to get to your place of work/learning facility yourself.

How long is the probation period?

6 months
