ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

At JCB, we’re building the products of the future today, and you can be part of it. Our three-year Machinist Technician Apprenticeship gives you hands-on experience with both new and existing products, helping you develop the skills and knowledge to become a fully qualified JCB Technician. From day one, you’ll be immersed in real engineering challenges that shape the machines used around the world.

As an apprentice, you’ll follow the path that suits your interests in the Machining route, you’ll learn to operate tools like lathes, milling machines, and grinders, while mastering the art of reading technical drawings and inspecting precision parts. You’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety, all within a clean and organised work environment.

Your journey starts with 3 days a week at The JCB Academy and 2 days in your business area. In year two, this flips, 2 days at the Academy and 3 days in the business, before you spend your final year fully embedded in your team. This structure ensures you gain both the theoretical foundation and practical experience needed to thrive in your chosen path.

WHY CHOOSE ENGINEERING AND MACHINIST TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIP?

While you’re working towards your Level 3 Machinist Technician Apprenticeship, you’ll be doing a real job which matters to our business. You’ll work for a company which will support you as you progress your career, offering you opportunities to diversify into specialist roles or apply to travel around the world to support new and exciting products.

You’ll get training with the JCB Academy and academic support to help you get everything you can from the experience. Then once you qualify, you’ll have lots of real business experience under your belt plus the understanding of how your role contributes to the business as a whole.
