ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Starting in September, this is an exciting and challenging programme for anyone looking to take a year out of their university studies to spend a year working in industry. Your year will be broken down into three placements spent in different parts of the business.

During these placements you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced teams on real projects. It’s a chance to put the theory you’re learning at university into practice, learn new skills and get a detailed understanding of how a major engineering and manufacturing business like ours operates.

REAL INSIGHT

You might find yourself designing and developing current or new product introduction into business units; doing research in our innovation centre or experiencing engineering from a different perspective on a more commercially focused placement. Alternatively you could spend time with our engines, industrial design or aftermarket areas of our business.

WHY CHOOSE A YEAR IN INDUSTRY?

Our Year In Industry placement is a unique opportunity to spend a year being paid while you learn from colleagues with years of experience, working on projects that will have an impact in the real world. The structure means you’ll get an insight into different aspects of our business and have a better idea of where your career could go when you head back to university to complete your degree. You can also get involved in community-based activities and become a STEM ambassador as part of the scheme.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for Engineering students in their second or third year at university who are on-track to get a 2:1 or above. You’ll be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be great at solving problems and communicating and passionate about working for JCB.
